Le col de Claudine from Le col de Claudine on Vimeo.

this is a cool idea. need to do something like this. tasteful, nice. I wonder how they got their logo to form over the video? Maybe like a flash file.

#4

oh my. I sold two items in the same day. For a seasoned seller this may be nothing to you but i'm pretty psyched. Thank you God. It is my first order that was an echeck payment, so a waiting period before it clears. I sent her a message on etsy telling her i'd inform her when the payment cleared and then afterwards when i ship it with the shipment tracking number. I'll tell you guys if I encounter any problems with echecks.

yay & wow & fire :(

God is so gracious. I made my third sale. Praise the Lord! thanks, God. I'm going to try to photography my two laundry baskets full of new clean folded vintage finds this weekend. And upload a lot of new items over this next week. And then go to ACL next weekend. I drove by Zilker today where they hold ACL the fence was up and some tents were up already.

There are two big fires that have been going on for a few days near us. One east and one west of Austin. This morning I thought there was fog in the air, but it wasn't fog. We saw what we thought was a storm cloud driving my husband to work and then realized it was ash and smoke from the fire west of Austin. You can smell it in the air around town. If you live around the Austin area and would like to help the people affected by the fire here are some donation sites and what they are asking for.

Here’s what is needed in the way of donated items:

 water

 diapers

 baby food

 adult food (non-perishable)

 trash cans

 trash bags

 underwear

 socks

 kennel for dogs

THIS WEEK – here is where you can drop off donations:

1. Austin Christian Fellowship in NW Austin; 6401 River Place Blvd.; Austin, TX 78730. Drop off hours: Monday-Friday 9 am – 5 pm

2. Fellowship Church SW offices in Buda; 3870 FM 967; Buda, TX 78610. Drop off hours: Tuesday-Friday 9 am – 5pm

Mini Moo Business Cards

I just ordered 100 of these mini moo business cards to try out. I'm gonna take some with me to ACL to give to people who look like they like vintage. But mainly to put in with orders and hand out to people and keep some in my purse with me always. what do you think. I tried two designs. check out the moo website. http://www.moo.com/share/8wmfm7

first sale

"celebration time, come on!" this is how I feel about my first sale :) super psyched. I woke up early this morning and wrapped it up all pretty in butcher paper and twine. Don't mind the low res photo, it was taken with my computer.

I had the past two days off from work and I got down to business on my vintage store. Posting items I had already taken pictures of. And yesterday I did most of the laundry of new thrifting finds I've made lately. I wash everything unless I can't wash it. I try my darndest to get all stains out and get everything smelling fresh. So now I have two laundry baskets full of nice clean folded items that I need to iron and take pictures of before I can post them.

tags

this morning i woke up early and decided to get up and work on my vintage item tags. we'll see if it pans out at out. I copied the tags list etsy has to my desktop. I love that about macs, just highlight and drag. How cool is that?! and from another page i copied this info into a desktop sticky note:

most important keyword and phrases at front of title

what is it? vintage

what type?

who is it for?

main material?

main color?

method or technique used to make?

style?

size?

imagery, motifs?

synonyms?

I modified 9 items this morning. I don't really know how long you are supposed to wait to see what works well. I guess I'll post again about it in a week with any results.

tick tick ...

well. since i started my store 9 days ago. I've been to a vintage thrift store every other day. Which has been fun and apparently a workout too. I can feel my biceps which are a little soar from rummaging through piles, rack of clothes & carrying everything around until I check out. I'm really eager to make my first sale and make some online corespondents. I want to know what you guys want, if there is anyone out there. It's so early in the game I feel like i'm talking to myself. I'm antsy to make my first sale. I've been doing everything i can think of to try to inform people of my shop. I've got a blog, facebook page, twitter, flickr, tumblr and have been posting stuff on i heart this, pin it and stumble upon and my personal facebook page. Everything draws in a couple views but i'm like what does it take? How do other people do this? I like the way i take pictures but it is different from most people just hanging something or putting it on a mannequin or person just standing there in front of a blank wall. I found a place at a friends house to take just hanging stuff pictures in front of. I've been using a film camera because my dinky little digital camera makes all photos look sterile and uninviting to buy, it takes all of the "Look what I found!" out of the picture. I guess i could invest in a nice digital camera, but i don't have that kind of money right now. I really love this, the shop, the photo shoots, the thrift shopping. I'm just waiting for that first sale and then the second and then you know the fan base that follows you and checks out all your new stuff whenever you post something. I read that video shopping haulers on etsy article. Maybe i should have videos about my vintage stuff. I'm not sure of what the videos would consist of. Maybe just sitting in front of a camera and playing dress up and showing stuff off and if I got a nice digital that had nice video i could video or get a friend to video the photo shoots of the vintage clothes that i use as my photos of the items on etsy. if you are out there i'd love to get an "I hear ya"

until later,
Lilah

photo shoot

so yesterday when i uploaded my first few items i took with my little digital camera, the pictures just didn't turn out well. My tiny digital camera just doesn't capture light very well so today i took all film pictures. They've got some grain to them but i like it, magazine like. It was my first try at it, people clothing pictures. I tried to take candid like pictures, kind of hard with just one person, it's easier to forget the camera when you got someone to focus on apart from the camera.
