new dress

picked up a dress from Jcrew recently. it's doubled layer thin cotton fabric. and the detail is little dots and slashes. I like the delicate yet casual feel to it. it reminds me of something wiksten might wear or make. My friend and i have a huge creative/design/taste/style wish we were friends crush on her, so we could hang out drink tea and create together, sewing, embroidering, knitting, cooking, and decorating a scandinavian inspired home. anyways... after my rambling admiration... i really like the dress. it was my last splurge for a while. i'm making an effort to budget us into paying off all our debt within 2 years. The payment plan is just a little over one year but i'm saying two with the wiggle room to go to a wedding in september in California and make our monthly/twice a month trips to Denton for Jamin's "Sea Shepherd" music project with his friends there and in the summer when the AC bill goes close to 200 for a one bedroom a month (craziness).

new sweater

so i guess it is sweater season now. I walked outside this morning to a lovely feeling of crisp cold morning air. It warmed up with the sun but stayed relatively cool all afternoon. A first for this year. Last week my husband and I went to see my favorite band Blind Pilot play at the Parish. A great venue if you want to see an acoustic act play Austin, TX. At one point they were like "Why is it so hot here?" mentioning that where they are from, Oregon and that it is 45 degrees and everyone was like Texas takes a while to cool down and doesn't stay that way for long.

I sold a few sweaters, yay. I've been having some good luck finding novelty 80's sweaters lately.

We are about to go on a road trip soon so I bought a sweater to prepare. Because I only really have one long sleeve sweater i really like but it has holes in it. So I got from GAP this short crop top style sweater with a medium size knit stitch with 3/4 sleeves but i got it in a large so that it would cover more arm and therefore serve its purpose of keeping me warm while we travel north. It is a dark navy with metal looking silver added to the yarn that reminds me of a starry night. And it was on sale, always a plus.

What i really would like to get is this sweater by good night, day.

New dress

I was browsing my blogs with google reader this morning and noticed the silent sundays sale. So I popped over to their site and wish I could buy the blue dress I mentioned earlier of theirs but picked up a different vintage lilac dress of theirs that is in the same light and less costly.

early fall wardrobe finds

I made some purchases recently to be part of my fall wardrobe this year. As I get older I notice I've become more picky choosy when it comes to clothing. I don't buy anything unless I really love it. Which I'm glad this has happened to me because it has made me more appreciative of what I do love and more frugal in my spending because I don't have much of a budget. First I recently purchased this cute 1960's sweet little button up with cuffed sleeves. I love the design of the classic 60's button up but the fabric is what really caught my attention. The floral pattern has little kitties camouflaged around the flowers, so cute. I purchased it from Pistenine on etsy.

and I bought a pair of Clarks original 'Desert' boots from Nordstrom. I've been wanting a pair of these since last year when I first tried them on. They are classic with their unchanged design since the 60s. Solid leather and thick sole for durability and longevity which is what I want in a pair of boots, to last forever. And that they are comfortable enough to wear through the brake in process. Which they are with a pair of socks and the occasional band-aid to prevent any rubbing of your heal through your thin socks. As it gets cooler I'll be able to break out my camping socks from J.Crew but for now I'm wearing them with J.Crew trouser socks.
